La Minerva is one of Guadalajara’s best-known civic symbols. The fountain and statue depict Minerva, the Roman goddess associated with wisdom, and stand at a major traffic circle in the city.

The monument is not tied to one national war in the same way as the Ángel or Monumento a la Revolución. Its importance is as a city symbol of Guadalajara and Jalisco, often used in imagery representing the city.
