Article 12 rejects hereditary privileges by saying that Mexico does not grant titles of nobility, hereditary honors, or similar distinctions. It also does not recognize noble titles granted by other countries.

This article reflects republican equality: Mexico is not a monarchy and does not give legal status to aristocratic ranks. For test purposes, associate Article 12 with no titles of nobility.
