The National Electoral Institute, or INE, organizes federal elections and issues voter credentials. Mexico uses competitive elections for offices such as President, senators, deputies, governors, and local offices.

For citizenship learners, INE is the key election institution to recognize. It is separate from political parties and helps administer voting.
