Flan is a popular dessert throughout Mexico and other Latin American countries, as well as Spain. It is a type of custard dessert made of eggs, sugar, and milk, with a layer of caramel sauce on top. The flan is cooked in a water bath to keep it soft and creamy, then chilled and inverted onto a plate so the caramel forms a syrupy topping. The texture is smooth and it has a rich, sweet, and creamy flavor.
